Iona Women's Golf Wraps Up Navy Invitational

ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Iona Gaels traveled to Annapolis, Maryland to compete in the Navy Fall Invitational, held at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club on a challenging layout that tested all aspects of the game. Iona finished 15th out of 15 teams, but the tournament featured notable individual efforts in a strong field, Stetson University took the team title with a winning score of +21. Iona finished 15th out of 15 teams, facing tough competition throughout.

Michaela Fernandez led the Gaels with an impressive two-round total of +10, shooting +8 in the first round and following it with a sharp +2 in round two. Her strong performance earned her a Top 11 individual finish, a bright spot for Iona in a highly competitive field.

Maria Luiza Soares posted the second-best score for the Gaels, finishing at +28 (rounds of +13 and +15), showing consistent play across both days. Leia McKenzie improved in round two with a +11, following a difficult +23 in round one, to finish at +34 overall.

Makenna Paxton carded a total of +41, recovering from a challenging +29 in round one with a solid +12 in the second round. Mia Iaciofano finished with a two-round total of +61, shooting +24 and +37 respectively.

The Gaels will conclude their fall season at the Great Danes Invitational, hosted by UAlbany at Normanside Country Club in Delmar, NY, on October 11–12.
