NEW YORK, NY - The Iona University men's track & field team finished second place in the 2025 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships at the Nike Track & Field Center at the Armory in New York, New York. A fantastic Sunday outing meant that the Maroon & Gold took home seven medals, highlighted by a podium sweep in the mile event. Including yesterday's efforts in the 5000-meter run, the Gaels finished with eight of nine possible medals in the MAAC Championships' three longest events.
Finishing first in today's 300-meter event and completing the weekend with two gold medals,
Tadhg Donnelly was name the MAAC Track Most Outstanding Performer.
MEN'S MILE RUN
The Iona men took all three spots on the podium in an event, with
Bradley Giblin taking home the gold with a time of 4:00.50.
Giblin's Gael teammates joined the podium and were separated by only 0.21 seconds, with
Duncan Robinson taking second with a 4:02.67 and
Matt Rankin taking the bronze with a 4:02.68.
Andrew Fogarty brought in seventh place points at 4:17.15.
MEN'S 3000-METER RUN
Maroon & Gold colors once again adorned the MAAC Championship podium, with
Tadhg Donnelly taking home his second gold medal in as many days with a time of 8:02.40.
Lachlan Wellington joined in on the two-medal party, taking home silver with a time of 8:02.99.
Matt Rankin finished with a time of 8:13.24 while Crock Crockett followed with a time of 8:22.14, both taking home fourth and fifth place points respectively.
MEN'S 4X800-METER RELAY
Iona's 4x800 meter crew finished with a time of 7:48.54. Their efforts were good enough for a silver medal, with eight points added to Iona's team tally.
MEN'S 800-meter run
Tristan Coles grabbed a silver medal in an 800 meter run for the second time in the night, this time in an individual effort that saw him finish with a time of 1:53.86. Coles' time came within 0.40 seconds of a personal best.
MEN'S Triple Jump
Jiles Addison brought home fifth place points with a 14.04 meter effort in the triple jump event.
Julz Shaw (17th, 12.01m) was the second Gael to compete in the event.
