POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The Iona University women's outdoor track and field team delivered a strong all-around performance at the Red Fox River Rumble on Saturday, April 18 at Gartland Commons.
JAVELIN THROW
Junior
Tyaja Thomas led the way with a first-place finish in the javelin, posting a throw of 45.73 meters. Thomas shattered her previous personal best by 18 feet from the 2025 METS Championships and now owns the top mark in the MAAC this season.
400-METER RUN
Freshman
Arabella Dickfos placed second in 58.28, improving her personal best by more than two seconds from the season opener at Stony Brook and recording the third-fastest time in program history.
Sofia Lumbreras followed in fifth at 59.69 in her first outdoor 400 at Iona, good for the sixth-fastest time in school history.
Kaleigh Murphy finished sixth in 1:00.03, a personal best by more than seven seconds from last week at Providence, tying for the seventh-fastest time at Iona. Senior
Nadine Jefremow placed 17th in 1:03.52.
1500-METER RUN
Freshman
Kiera Atkinson led a strong group effort with a second-place finish in 4:35.54 in her first outdoor 1500 at Iona, ranking eighth in the MAAC this season and among the program's top 25 all-time. Senior
Maya Todd McIntyre finished third in 4:43.26 in her first outdoor 1500 with the Gaels.
McKenna Arguien placed 10th in 4:49.47, shaving nearly three seconds off her previous best from last year's METS Championships.
Sarah Wisnieski took 11th in 4:50.64, improving her personal best by six seconds from two weeks ago, while Gabby Carroll finished 13th in 4:50.74 in her first outdoor 1500 at Iona.
3000-METER STEEPLECHASE
Junior
Alexa Doe earned a runner-up finish in the 3000-meter steeplechase, crossing in 12:06.87.
DISCUS THROW
Thomas added a third-place finish in the discus with a throw of 37.63 meters, a personal best by more than three feet from last year's MAAC Championship and the seventh-best mark in the conference this season.
5,000-METER RUN
Freshman
Alyssa Dovico placed fourth in 19:34.76 in her first outdoor 5,000-meter run at Iona.
200-METER DASH
Jefremow turned in a personal-best 26.31 to place seventh, improving by six-tenths of a second from last week at Providence and moving to fourth all-time at Iona. Murphy finished ninth in 26.82, lowering her personal best by 0.75 seconds and climbing to fifth all-time.
Alexa Hermanns took 17th in 27.59, improving her personal best by 0.2 seconds and ranking seventh in program history.
LONG JUMP
Hermanns recorded an eighth-place finish in the long jump at 4.80 meters in her first collegiate attempt in the event.
100-METER DASH
Hermanns also placed 10th in the 100-meter dash in 13.10, a personal best by half a second from two weeks ago and the fifth-fastest time in Iona history.
