Syracuse, NY- A third straight late inning rally by Le Moyne led the home team to a 13-4 win over the Iona College baseball team at Dick Rockwell Field. With the score tied at four after six and a half inning, the Dolphins (31-17, 22-3 MAAC) scored nine unanswered runs to clinch the top seed in the 2007 MAAC Championship. The Gaels (16-34, 8-17 MAAC) closed out their season with the loss.

Iona took a 3-0 lead after two innings with two in the first and a run in the second. Back-to-back run scoring hits by junior 1B Allie Abbatiello and sophomore C Andrew Wernicki put the Gaels on the board in the first inning. Senior LF Nick Capowski belted his second home run of the season in the second inning to put Iona ahead by three.

Le Moyne answered with four runs in the bottom of the second to take a 4-3 lead.

Sophomore SS Joe Lorenzo hit his third home run of the season in the top of the sixth inning to knot the score at 4-4.

The Dolphins scored three in the seventh to chase Iona starter Marty Hand and take the lead for good.

Hand (5-8) completed a solid four-year in Maroon & Gold. His 43 games started is the most in school history, six more than former Gael Brian Baltz '03. He also finished a top the innings pitched list with 270.0, over 35 innings more than Ralph Bonelli '94. He also had the sixth most career wins with 15, three less than school leader Rob Moore '98.

Abbatiello was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI. Six other Gaels collected solo hits in the loss.
