BRONX, NY- The Iona College women's indoor track and field team kicked off their 2009-10 slate at the Fordham Season Opener. Graduate
Anna Holm-Joergensen continued her successful fall semester by earning a first place finish in the mile at Fordham.
Joergensen clocked a time of 5:01.10 in the mile run. She was 1.5 seconds ahead of Melissa Salerno who ran unattached in the meet. The time was also more than 11 seconds ahead of the third place finisher. Junior
Chelsea Brisman also finished the event in the top 10 finishing ninth overall (5:42.70).

Luci McLoughlin earned top five finishes in the 1000-meter run. Peluso was two seconds behind Sarah Sudbury from St. John's in her second place time of 3:08.40. McLoughlin finished two places behind Pelso in 3:10.90.
In the 800-meter run, rookie
Chelsea Hanson (2:38.60) and junior
Natalie Finnerty (2:40.30) also placed in the Top 10, crossing the line in ninth and 10th.
The Gaels will resume the indoor season next month when they compete at the Gotham Cup at the 168th St Armory Track and Field Center in New York City.
