PRINCETON, NJ - Freshman Marion Joly-Testault finished first in the 3000-meter run and the Gaels' Distance Medley Relay squad ran the second fastest time in school history at the 2010 Princeton Indoor Relays on Saturday.
Joly-Testault topped Kutztown's Christina Reimer by more than 11 seconds with her time of 10:10.19. Senior Samone Brockett (11:01.75), junior Chelsea Brisman (11:09.40) and freshman Chelsea Hanson (11:15.79) finished sixth, seventh and eighth in the event for the Gaels.
Iona's distance medley relay squad of Kristen Peluso (1200), Heidi Gregson (400), Leonie Smith (800) and Ashling Baker (1600) finished second overall in the event, posting a time of 11:56.38. The time is the second fastest in school history. The mark topped last year's mark at the Collegiate Invitational that included Baker and Gregson along with graduate Annelore Desaedeleer and senior Brianna English (11:56.38). The school record of 11:41.73 was set at the 2006 ECAC Championships by McKayla Plank, Zuri Wilson, Heather Bourgault and Salome Kosgei.
Baker also finished first in her heat of the 1,000-meter run. Her time of 3:08.50 was fourth overall in the two-heat event. Rookie Luci McLoughlin finished second to Baker and was eighth overall (3:12.78).
The Gaels are back in action next weekend at the Metropolitan Championships, hosted by Yale University.
