Arrigoni Hall of Fame
One of the top women’s water polo players in school history, Amanda Brucia ’12 was a four-year starter for the Gaels, a three-time All-MAAC selection, the 2007 MAAC Offensive Player of the Year, and the 2006 MAAC Rookie of Year. At the time of her induction, she was one of only five athletes to record more than 300 career goals and was the first in the Maroon & Gold to reach the 300-goal mark.
Brucia finished her career in the top two in total points and points per game and was second all-time in assists and ejections drawn. As a sophomore and junior, she finished in the top 10 in the country in scoring. At the time of her induction, Brucia ranked in the top six in goals, assists, and ejections drawn, and was seventh all-time with 401 total points. She was the first Gael to ever record 90 goals in a season.
Brucia’s Iona career ended with the 2009 Joseph O’Connell Award, presented annually to the athletic department’s most outstanding male and female senior student-athletes.
Brucia earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Iona in 2012 with a double major in History and Biology.
