Br. Harry Dunkak enters the Iona College Hall of Fame as the most successful tennis coach in the history of Iona College.

Br. Dunkak posted an impressive 144-23 overall record during his 10 seasons as head coach of the Gaels. His .862 winning percentage is the highest of any head coach in the history of Iona College. Br. Dunkak’s teams won six Metropolitan Conference championships, recorded three undefeated seasons (1972, 1975, 1977) and won 32 consecutive dual matches from 1977 to 1978.

Br. Dunkak was the Faculty Representative to the athletic department from 1970 to 1980, and became the athletic department’s first academic advisor in 1978. He also served as Assistant Dean of the School of Arts and Science from 1978 to 1983 and is currently a Professor Emeritus of History at Iona. In his historical research, Br. Dunkak has numerous publications on the history of Westchester County and the contributions of the Irish to America.

At the time of his induction, Br. Harry Dunkak still finds time to play and has been nominated for the prestigious Intercollegiate Tennis Hall of Fame.
