Stack starred both on the cross country course and the track, helping lead the 1982 Gael harriers to the school’s first ever NCAA Championship appearance, where they finished 18th. Stack captured the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference cross country title in a championship record time of 24:26.50 at Van Cortlandt Park. It was also the second fastest time run by an Iona Athlete on the storied cross country course.

On the track, Stack was dominant in the 3,000m steeplechase. He qualified for the NCAA Championship three times, earning All-American status twice in that event, placing fifth in 1985 and seventh in 1986. He also captured an Iona-best three IC4A titles in the steeplechase, setting a new school and Eastern Collegiate record of 8:29.60 in 1985.

At the time of his induction, Stack is the assistant principal at Brewster High School in Brewster, NY.
