Arrigoni Hall of Fame
James P. Hynes '69, '01H, has been a special contributor and friend of Iona College Athletics. He has shown commendable history as an alumnus, mentor, and advocate of Iona College. His generosity and support has been critical in the Iona College athletic program's success.
In 2006, the Hynes Athletics Center became a reality because of his record-breaking gift. The facility incorporates the strengths of the existing facility while enhancing its abilities to best meet the needs of the Iona community. For the first time in Iona history, students and employees now have a dedicated facility for intramural and personal wellness. Hynes currently serves as vice chairman of Iona's Board of Legal Trustees. He was also was a member of the Alumni Board of Directors for 15 years, serving as president from 1989-1991.
In 1994, Hynes was the recipient of the Alumni Association's Brother Arthur A. Loftus Award for Outstanding Achievement. He was also honored with the Brother Patrick B. Doyle Award for Distinguished Service to the Alumni Association in 1996. In 2001, Hynes received an honorary doctoral degree from the College. As an undergraduate student, he competed on the rowing team at Iona.
