Tom Burke entered the Iona College Goal Club Hall of Fame due to the success he enjoyed during his basketball career as well as for the contributions he has made to the Iona College Community during and following his tenure as an undergraduate student-athlete.

A former Gael captain and All-City performer from All Hallows High School, Burke was the MVP of Iona’s freshman team before averaging 9.6 points and 7.8 rebounds over his 62-game varsity career. Burke’s strongest attribute as a player were his tremendous playmaking skills. He still shares the Madison Square Garden single-game assist record (15) with Oscar Robertson. As a senior Burke was the recipient of the Joseph O’Connell award as Iona’s top senior student-athlete.

Burke’s involvement with Iona College did not cease when his playing career ended, however. Through the years Burke has taken a leadership role within the Iona College Community, remaining active and serving in various functions, including as past President of the Iona College Alumni Association and the Iona College Goal Club.
