Arrigoni Hall of Fame
One of the top men's basketball players in Iona history, Tariq Kirksay '20 finished his tenure as the No. 4 scorer all-time in program history with 1,815 points. He averaged 14.7 points and 7.5 rebounds in 123 career games played.
Kirksay made an indelible mark on the Iona record book. Following his Iona career he ranked third in free throws made (464), third in steals (207), fourth in rebounds (926), fourth in free throw attempts (639) and sixth in field goals made (619). His 77 steals as a sophomore were the second most in a single season in program history at the time. Kirksay led the Gaels in rebounding and steals in his sophomore through senior years and scoring in his final two seasons.
Kirksay was the first Iona player to earn All-MAAC honors in all four seasons (and one of only three at the time of his induction) including All-MAAC First Team as a junior and senior and the 1999-2000 MAAC Player of the Year. He was named to the MAAC All-Tournament team in 1998 and 2000, earning MAAC Championships and appearing in the NCAA tournament in those years.
Towards the end of a lengthy and highly successful professional basketball career abroad, Kirksay returned to school and earned his degree from Iona in 2020.
