Lauren Peterson ’09 was a top performer for the Iona University women’s water polo program from 2006-2009. Following her junior campaign in 2008, Peterson was named the MAAC Offensive Player of the Year. She was a three-time All-MAAC performer, on the first team as a junior and senior in 2008 and 2009, and as a sophomore in 2007 she made the second team.

Peterson’s 2008 season was a standout year, as she led the team with 164 points on 99 goals and 64 assists. All three of those single-season statistics rank inside the top 10 in Iona’s record book at her induction. Her 164 points in 2008 still holds the record for the most points in a season in program history. She is the only Gael to ever record over 160 points in a season and one of just two players to record over 150.

Over Peterson’s career, she ranked ninth in goals, second in assists and sixth in points. At the time of her induction into the Arrigoni Hall of Fame, she was one of six Gaels with over 100 career assists and one of two with over 150.

In 2009, Peterson graduated from the honors program with a Bachelor of Business Administration focused in Marketing. In 2011, she completed an MBA with a concentration in Human Resources Management.
