Arrigoni Hall of Fame
Bill Edwards enters the Hall of Fame after coaching the Gaels to a record of 156-64-11 in 11 seasons as Head Coach of the Hockey Gaels. In his first eight seasons, the Gaels were a club team and Edwards’ squads had an overall mark of 123-50-11, (.668 winning percentage).
While Edwards was the mentor, Hockey was elevated to varsity status for the 1976-77 season. Edwards’ three year mark with the varsity team was 33-14-3 (66% win ratio).
Edwards is a 1967 graduate of Northern Michigan University where he played center on the Hockey squad. He was also an all-league performer at New Rochelle High School and went on to play professional hockey with the Marquette Warriors of the U.S. Professional Hockey League.
While coaching at Iona, Edwards taught Physical Education at John F. Kennedy Junior High School, (Commack, Long Island).
