Arrigoni Hall of Fame
Frank Effinger is inducted into the Iona College Goal Club Hall of Fame as the winningest ice hockey coach in Iona history.
During his 11-season tenure Effinger won 73.9% of his contests, compiling a 187-66-5 record. Effinger led the Gaels to a 20-7-0 record during the 1988-89 season, while also directing the unit to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) South Championship in that same season. In 1984-85 he led Iona to a school varsity record 21 wins against only seven losses.
Effinger never endured a losing season during his Iona coaching career, in fact, he never boasted a winning percentage lower than 61.5%. During the 1982-83 and 1989-90 seasons Effinger compiled better than an 80.0% winning percentage.
At the time of his induction, Effinger was the head ice hockey coach at Rye Country Day School in Rye, New York.
