He also held Iona’s record for most single-season kickoff return touchdowns with four, also set in 1989, which was then also an NCAA Division III record. His six career kickoff return touchdowns remain an Iona record and at the time tied the NCAA All Divisions record.

Womack was electric on Mazzella Field especially, setting several records on the New Rochelle turf.  Those records included three rushing touchdowns vs. FDU-Madison in 1991, a 44-yard run from scrimmage vs. Catholic in 1990, 131 kickoff returns yards including a 93-yard scamper on one attempt vs. CW Post in 1990, and three total kickoff returns for touchdowns during his career.

In four seasons in Maroon & Gold, Womack’s teams earned a 23-15-1 record including 8-2 in 1989 and 7-2-1 in 1991. As a senior in 1991, Womack amassed 773 rushing yards, 349 receiving yards, 11 rushing touchdowns and one touchdown catch, 400 kickoff return yards, 1,523 all-purpose yards, and was named All-Liberty Conference second team. As a junior, Womack had 159 rushing yards, 393 kickoff return yards, 911 all-purpose yards, and six total touchdowns. As a sophomore, he accumulated 20 rushing yards, 368 receiving yards, 919 all-purpose yards, 531 kickoff return yards and seven touchdowns. As a freshman in 1998, Byron totaled 517 all-purpose yards, 256 rushing yards, four touchdowns.

Womack stands No. 2 all-time in Iona College history with 29 touchdowns and tied for fourth with 4.7 rushing yards per attempt.
