After transferring from Hofstra University, the New Rochelle native was a four-year standout under center. He played in 35 games, passing for 8,975 yards and 67 touchdowns. As a sophomore in 1993, he quarterbacked Iona through its first season at the Division I-AA level, leading the Gaels to the inaugural MAAC Football League Championship and a berth in the ECAC Bowl.

That season, he rewrote the Iona record book, setting 10 new passing marks and ended the season ranked third nationally in total offense. For his efforts, he was named to the MAAC Football League’s First Team and earned ECAC I-AA Player of the Year honors.

After beginning his junior year with numerous preseason All-American and Player of the Year accolades, he threw for over 2,300 yards and 15 touchdowns and earned MAAC and ECAC Player of the Year honors, ending the year ranked sixth in the country in total offense. As a senior, Proudian again ranked among the nation’s top 10 in total offense. He threw for 2,400 yards, and 14 touchdowns and was a First Team All-MAAC and ECAC selection for a third consecutive season.
