Rob E. McNulty '91 was a standout performer in the pool as a dual-sport athlete. He starred as both a swimmer and a water polo player.
One of the top water polo players in school history, McNulty ranks in the top seven in virtually all statistical categories. His 276 career goals rank fourth all-time while his 480 points is fifth. He appeared in a school record 140 games over four seasons and his 251 steals is the second best at Iona.
The two-time team captain was named team MVP as a junior and senior. As a sophomore, junior, and senior he was selected All-Mid-Atlantic Conference. He also earned All-Eastern Water Polo League as a junior and senior.
As a swimmer, McNulty holds Top 12 times in seven different events including the school record in both the 200-yard backstroke (1:53.7) and the 200-yard individual medley (1:54.97). His 53.25 performance in the 100-yard backstroke is the second fastest time in school history.
In 1991, McNulty became the program's first individual MAAC champion setting the record breaking time in the 200-yard backstroke. McNulty was a four-time Metropolitan Collegiate Swimming Conference champion in the 200-back. As a senior, he was a double winner, earning the 200-yard individual medley title. His performances at the MCSC championship earned him Swimmer of the Year honors as a junior and senior.
McNulty also earned several team honors including Rookie of the Year in 1988, Most Valuable Swimmer as a sophomore and senior in 1989 and 1991 as well as serving as a two-time team captain.
