Emmily Chelanga '06 had one of the most balanced and outstanding careers of an Iona cross country and track & field student-athlete.
Chelanga won the MAAC Cross Country championship in 2003 and 2004. She placed inside the top 10 individually at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships in 2003, 2004 and 2006. In 2003, she placed inside the top 40 at the NCAA Cross Country championship.
Chelanga was a three-time MAAC Indoor Track & Field Champion. Chelanga won the 5,000-meter race in 2004 and 2005. She also captured gold in the 5k at the 2005 championship.
In 2004, Chelanga captured two gold medals in the 5k and 10k at the MAAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She competed in the 5k at the 2004 NCAA Championships and earned All-American honors.
Chelanga is the fourth women's cross country and track & field alumnus to be voted into the Iona College Goal Club Hall of Fame.
