Matthew J. Guiliano ‘94 was a standout performer on the baseball team in the early 1990’s. His career offensive statistics rank among the all-time leaders in Iona College history. Guiliano appeared in 153 career games for the Gaels which ranks 23rd all time. At the time of his induction, his career numbers ranked in the Top 10 in five major statistical categories including runs batted in, runs scored, batting average, triples and slugging percentage.
The 1994 season was a special one for Guiliano as he achieved some historic milestones. His .395 batting average, .748 slugging percentage, 12 home runs, 47 runs batted in, and 58 runs scored all rank in the Top 10 on the single season leaderboard for Iona baseball. Guiliano was the 1994 MAAC South Co-Player of the Year and an All-MAAC South Team selection in both 1993 and 1994.
Guiliano was selected by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 20th round of the 1994 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft.
